About Jake Vealesco

Jake Vealesco is a mechanical engineer by profession. He has been involved in everything that has nuts and bolts ever since he was a kid. Jake has a long history of inventing new mechanical things and at the same time trying to fix already existing solutions. Whenever he is done with day chores, he loves to go off-roading and you can often catch him in the woods trying to help others get cars which are stuck in deep mud.

What have I been doing all my life?

I have always loved being around machines, specially the ones that had some sort of mechanism involved. I would dismantle the DC motor toys and try applying multiple things to the rotor for fun. Going in the woods and also since i love to go off-road, i have myself been stuck several times and have a very deep understanding of how to use a winch since winch has been such a helping tool for ages now.

With the passion to help and get more and more people to have deeper understanding of how a winch is used, i’ve launched drwinch so that people understand various concepts of winch and also keep on enjoying their vehicle for off-roading or someone who wishes to use winches for boating and other leisure purposes like some use it with their skateboards.

After doing my mechanical engineering, I got a job at GM motors as a gauge engineer. I loved my job since it allowed me to dwell my passion into automobiles and I had loads of fun around wires, nuts, powerful motors and even robots. That’s the beauty of working at a big factory where you get exposed to technology and tools which are otherwise out of reach if you were an individual.

Cut to 20 years later, i am not still working for a private garage that I co-founded with my buddy Mathew and a good amount of energies are involved in making drwinch a one stop solution for people who go out camping and offroading. I am here to share my knowledge and make lifelong friends.

My Personal Story

I have been across the globe and had my share of learning and enjoying life. But nothing gives me more joy than sharing whatever I have learned for free. I was born in the state of San Diego, CA and have seen how the machines and tools became smarter with time.

Ever since high school, I would always be fiddling with things at my house. I would simply pluck the DC motors out of toys and make a fan for myself and Jimmy, my dog. Later as I grew up, I would see my Dad and his friends working on their tractors and using powerful machines to pull through the farms. I was hooked to machines that were powerful and could be functional in multiple ways, winch is also one of them.

Today, I run my own private garage and enjoy my passion of going off-roading and camping regularly with my family. I review new tools over the weekend along with my team and love to be in regular touch with my fellow friends from the industry. I make sure to be regular at big machinery expos and love connecting with people and my subscribers. I plan to make drwinch, one of the best resources for everything related to winch.
